"Edward McKinley Whitaker 'Eddie'
Mr. Whitaker, 6i1, of Charlotte, NC, died November 7, 2005 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born July 24, 1944 in Dante, [Russell County,] VA, the son of the late McKinely Lee Whitaker and Eula Vicars Whitaker.
He was a loving father and grandfather, who will be remembered for his unconditional love and unwavering loyalty to his family and friends. Whether enjoying a round of golf or a hand of rook, his competitive spirit and fun-loving nature was evident. His family will especially miss his twinkling blue eyes and his baby back ribs.
Survivors include his daughters, Teresa Whitaker of Charlotte, NC and Amber Butler and her husband, Blake Butler, of Davidson, NC; sister, Priscilla Casteel and her husband, James Casteel, of Charlotte, NC; niece, Sandy Casteel of Charlotte, NC; nephew, James Casteel, Jr. of Charlotte, NC; and grandchildren, Kayla Whitaker and Tyler Butler.
A funeral service will be held at Cokesbury United Methodist Church on Thursday, November 10, 2005 at 11 o'clock in the morning, with the Reverend John Moore officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn East. The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 9, 2005 from 7 until 8:30 PM at the Pineville Chapel of McEwen Funeral Service, 10500 Park Rd., Charlotte."
