Shawn was a friend of many while he attended Springville Elementary School, Zion Lutheran School, Porterville High School, Porterville City College and then graduating from Sacramento State University.
He was an avid athlete and outdoorsman. He enjoyed playing baseball, football, water polo, tennis, golf, sky diving, snowboarding. Shawn was a season ticket holder for the Oakland Raiders football team.
Shawn is survived by his wife Brittany, parents Michael Gililland and Donna & John Bergman, grandfather Floyd "Bud" Gililland, sisters and brother-in-laws Karla & Kevin Gilliam and Tamara & Jason Hutts, in-laws Mike & Karrin Ballard, sister-in-laws Jamie & Taylor Buckley and Lindsay Ballard, aunts and uncles Donna & Don Smith and Denise & Ed Barnes and Richard & Carole Jones and niece Abigail Gilliam.
Gone before him are grandfathers Donald Jones and Arthur Hutchison, grandmothers Patricia (Feary) Gililland and Euretta (Louk) Jones.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up with Wells Fargo Bank" under the name of "Michael Shawn Gililland Memorial Fund".
There will be celebration of life services held at Romero Funeral Chapel in Denver, Colorado, Crossroads Christian Church in Sacramento, California and El Nuevo Restaurant in Springville, California. There will be a tree planting in the spring in Springville, California.
