Jack D. McDaniel, resident of Ponca City, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, January 6, 2014. The memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at 2:00 pm, at the First United Methodist Church, Ponca City, Oklahoma with Rev. Mike Smith, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.

"Small Town Boy" (Bronski Beat)

Jack was born on October 21, 1920 to Alfred McDaniel and Ava (Cameron) McDaniel in Enid, Oklahoma., the oldest of three children.

As a child he attended Reynolds School District 55. While attending Enid High School he helped his father on the farm by delivering milk to residents in Enid. After graduating from Enid High School he was accepted into Annapolis. He graduated from Phillips University in Enid and later received his master's degree from the University of Oklahoma.

He was married to Ruby Miller on April 1, 1944 in Enid, Oklahoma before leaving to go to training with the Navy. While in the Navy he attended radio school at Harvard and Radar school at MIT. He was commissioned as a Lieutenant, J.G. He was in the American Theater and the Asiatic-Pacific Theater.

"Whistle While You Work" (Larry Morey)

Jack taught physics and mathematics in Wellington, Kansas and then in Enid before going to work for Continental Oil Company as a research engineer in 1952. He continued to work for the company until his retirement in 1980.

Jack and Ruby have four children. Alfred of El Cajon, California and his wife Janet have two children, Christopher and Emily. Patricia of Blue Springs, Mo and her husband Ray have a daughter, Merrick who is married to Aaron Aversman. Becky is married to Richard Hightower and lives in Ponca City. They have two sons, Peter and Brett. The youngest son, is Randy who lives in Cypress, Texas is married to Paula. They have three daughters and two sons-in-law, Meg, Maddie, Mackenzie, Colby and Isaac. Jack and Ruby have three great- grandchildren, Miller and Janssen Dick, and Eleanor Aversman.

Jack was preceded in death by his sister and brother as well as one granddaughter, Molli McDaniel

"The Happy Wanderer" Florenz Friedrich

Jack enjoyed working in the scouting programs, helping with the little league baseball teams, teaching Sunday School and working with the youth at the church, helping with the band parents and quarterback club, and many other family activities. He also enjoyed nature, sailing and woodworking.
