William Laverne Budd, 92, of Harrisonburg died Wednesday at Bridgewater Home. He had been ill since July.

Mr. Budd was born Jan. 3, 1897, in Canton, Ill., and was a son of the late William Marvin and Minnie Burcham Budd.

He lived in Sioux City, Iowa, before moving to Harrisonburg 35 years ago.

He served overseas during World War I and had worked as a service manager for Dale Wegner Chevrolet.

On Aug. 11, 1920, he married the former Marcella Flannery, who died Aug. 12,1987.

Surviving are five children, Mary Ann Budd Barley of Shreveport, La., William E. and Earl A. Budd, both of Harrisonburg, Merle J. Budd of Tulsa, Okla., and Bernard T. Budd of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; 22 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens by the Rev. J. Kenneth Rush.

Friends may call at the Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home, but the family will receive friends at the home of Earl Budd.
