She grew to young womanhood in that community and was married at Koleen to Charles WHITE, November 23, 1893. To this union was born eight children, six sons and two daughters. One son and one daughter passed away in infancy.
The six remaining children grew to maturity in Fairplay Township, where the parents had established a home.
In her early, married life, Effie became a member of the Switz City Baptist Church and remained steadfast in her faith toward her master. She was kind and sympathetic and always ready to contribute to any worthy cause.
She was especially fond of flowers and as long as her health permitted, she kept them growing and shared them with her friends and neighbors.
About two years ago she was stricken with a lingering illness from which she never recovered and at the close of the day, June 29, 1942, a merciful Father called her to rest.
Survivors are the husband, one daughter, Nina HAUSER, of near Switz City, five sons, Veral, Leo, Guy and Cloyce of Switz City, and Roy of Oolitic; three sisters Mrs. Lola HARDESTY of Bicknell; Mrs. Laura WOLLAM, of Springville, and Miss Josie HALL of Valparaiso; one brother, Luther HALL, of Bloomington; a stepmother, Mrs. Hannah HALL, of Koleen; a step-sister, Mrs. Simon HORN of Bloomfield; thirteen grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and one step-granddaughter.
She was a faithful wife, a devoted mother and a good neighbor and will be sadly missed by a large circle of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held July 1, 1942, at the Ashcraft Chapel with the Rev. Logan HATFIELD, of Owensburg in charge. Burial was in the church cemetery at 3:00 p.m.
