"James L. Braden, aged seventy-four, died Sunday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Jacob Lemasters, 338 Harrison avenue (Shelbyville, IN/ja)........"

"January 24, 1858, Mr. Braden was united in marriage to Miss Sarah J. Lawson. To this union were born eight children, four sons and four daughters. Mrs. Braden died four years ago. The surviving sons and daughters are, James J., William M., John D. and C. L. Braden and Mrs. Purmelia (sic) Fogel, Mrs. Allie Lemasters, Mrs. Nevada Gibbons and Mrs. Ida Pruitt, who resides in Portland, Oregon.

"The funeral services were held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lemasters at 8 a.m. Tuesday, April 27, the Rev. J. P. Myers officiating. The burial was in the Mowery cemetery, in Decatur county. --Shelbyville News--

"The deceased was a son of Jackson Braden, and was born in Greensburg in 1835. His parents moved to a farm six miles west of town when he was a small boy, and he spent his early life in Clay township. He afterward lived near Waynesburg. Some twenty years ago he went to near Shelbyville to live.

"Besides the children mentioned, the deceased leaves three sisters, all residents of Clay township. They are: Mrs. Rebecca Miers, Mrs. Permilia Lawson and Mrs. Mahala Ewing."
