Master Sgt. Robert F. Barnes
Served with the U.S.Army during both WW2 of 1941-45 & Korea of 1950-53. During his military service he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. Robert died in Carson City NV in Aug. of 2002 at the age of 81.

Robert Frank Barnes, 81, of Carson City, Nev., died Sunday, August 25, 2002, at home.

Robert was born January 25, 1921 in Lewis Township, New York to Owen Noyce Barnes and Stella Spencer. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 until 1952 serving in World War II and Korea. He fought in the Ardennes, Central Europe, Normandy, Northern France, and Rhineland. He received the American Service Medal, Bronze Star, Belgium Croxide Guere with Palm, and Distinguish Unit Badge. He worked as a plumber in San Jose for 30 years, and served 4 years at the Eagle Valley Children's Home. He was a Charter member of Los Gatos, Calif. Elks, Charter member of 101st Airborne Association of Northern CA and NV; Member for 45 years of San Jose Plumber's Local 393, VFW-Carson City. He served as a Little League coach in San Jose, Calif. for 11 years.

Robert married Barbara Katherine Tully on October 24, 1946 in Rome, N.Y. He was a resident of Carson City, Nev. coming from San Jose, Calif.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Katherine Barnes of Carson City, Nev.; son, Michael Owen Barnes of Dayton, Nev.; daughter, Kathryn Barnes Mills of Carson City, Nev.; 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Services will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2002, 2:00 PM, at FitzHenry's Chapel of Faith, 833 N. Edmonds Dr., Carson City.

Interment at Lone Mountain Cemetery in Carson City, Nev. will follow the service with full military honors conducted by the Veterans Memorial Association of Northern Nevada.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Carson Tahoe Hospital Foundation for the Cancer Center, P.O. Box 2168, Carson City, NV 89702.
