Roy Hussey, 74, a prominent Savannah engineer, died Jan. 30 at home on Tybee Island. He was a fourth-generation Savannahian and the widower of Jeanne Ryan Hussey.
He was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. He attended the local schools and was a graduate of Georgia Institute of Technology, where he was president of the S.A.E. Fraternity
He was a retired principle of Hussey, Gay, Bell and DeYoung Engineers. During World War II, he was an officer in the Army Air Corps and served as a navigator flying bombing missions over Europe with the 8th Air Force.
He was a past president of the Civitan Club of Savannah, the Savannah Chapter, Georgia Society of Professional Engineers, Georgia Tech Alumni and SAL. He served on the Board of Stewards of the Hibernian Society and the Savannah Yacht Club, and was a member of The Chatham Club.
He was a former chairman of the Metropolitan Planning Commission. During his life, he donated more than 17 gallons of blood to the American Red Cross Blood Program.
Survivors: four sons and a daughter-in-law, Thomas J. Hussey and Michael A. Hussey, both of Savannah, Brian M. and Pamela J. Hussey of Overland Park, Kan., and William R. Hussey oF Atlanta; and five grandchildren, Megan, Ryan, Patrick, Brennan and Caroline Hussey; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church; burial in Bonaventure Cemetery.
