Born Feb. 12, 1953, in Olney, he was a son of Ruth Smith of Jonesville, Va., and the late Harry B. Appleby Sr.
Mr. Appleby was a 1971 graduate of Damascus High School.
He was employed as a construction worker. He was a resident of Lee County and Tennessee about 10 years.
Mr. Appleby was a Methodist.
Surviving are two children, Lisa Appleby and David Appleby; four brothers, C. Robert Appleby and wife Kim of Monrovia, Ray Appleby of Frederick, Mark Appleby and wife Shirley of New Market, and Bruce Appleby of Ashland, Ky.; three sisters, Sandra L. Marcum and husband Bill of Jonesville, Marjorie Skiff and husband Butch of Milan, Mich., and Linda L. Epperly and husband Jack of South Charleston, W.Va.; and his stepfather, Wayne Smith of Jonesville.
Visitation will be held from noon Friday, Sept. 13, until time of funeral services at 2 p.m. Friday, at Province Funeral Home, Jonesville. The Rev. Doug Clem will officiate.
Interment will be in Ewing Cemetery, Jonesville.
