VALDOSTA — Catherine "Cathy" Geddings, 53, of Naylor, Ga. passed away Thursday, December 19, 2013 at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta following an unexpected illness. She was born April 13, 1960 in Palatka, Fla. to John A. Wilkes and the late Mary Elizabeth Williams Wilkes. In addition to her mother she was preceded in death by an infant brother John Andy Wilkes. She was a member of the Pleasant Way Baptist Church in Lowndes County. She graduated from Valdosta State University, then received her master's degree from Nova Southeastern University. She changed lives of many young people by being a teacher with the Valdosta City School System, where she taught high school 20 years. She also loved quilting and was a member of the Withlacoochee Quilt Guild. She had a love of animals, especially cats. Her big heart and sweet and giving spirit continued after her death by being an organ donor.
Survivors include Son Jason M. Geddings of Naylor, Ga.; Father John A. Wilkes of Naylor, Ga.; Sister and Brother-in-Law Paulette and Jeff Eberhard of Mountain Rest, SC, Sister and Brother-in-Law Pam and Chuck Saul of Okeechobee, FL, Niece Donna Hedgepeth of Norway, SC, Nephew John Eberhard of Mountain Rest, SC and four Great Nieces and Nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday December 28, 2013 in the Pleasant Way Baptist Church with burial of her cremains in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends and family at the Social Hall of the church after the services.
