Charlotte H. (Annen) Vernig, age 79, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, in Agrace HospiceCare Inc., Fitchburg, surrounded and comforted by her beloved husband Ralph, and cherished family, as she was released from pain.

She was born Nov. 22, 1933, in Pine Bluff, the third child of nine to Ferdinand and Florence (Foss) Annen. She grew up in rural Cottage Grove and attended Gaston School House in Cottage Grove and Sun Prairie High School. Charlotte married Ralph Vernig on April 21, 1951, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Cottage Grove. Charlotte was a dedicated housewife, and mother to her four children. She also worked at the Wisconsin Cheeseman and for the Sun Prairie Area School District as a lunch lady. Charlotte's apple pies will be greatly missed. She loved playing euchre and gambling. She enjoyed watching the
Packers and was lucky with her numbers. Extended family and friends were always welcome for coffee and baked goods over conversation around the kitchen table.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Ralph; children, Judy (Mike) Pitzo, Linda (Bill) Wangerin, Diane (Tim) Tucker and Ralph Jr. (Vicki) Vernig; grandchildren, Wendi Tavs, Mark Pitzo, Natasha Jones, Behren Tucker, Elizabeth Nelson, Will Wangerin, Dustin Wangerin, Laura Herman and Michael Wienke; great-grandchildren, Jasmine, Michael, Andy, RJ, Hunter, Cecelia, Matthew, Shae, Behren Liam and Gracie; siblings, Matt (MaryAnn)
