Lanceton Roy Cook, 62, fell asleep in death Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013, at Haynes House of Hope in South Granville, N.Y., following a prolonged illness.

Lance was born March 2, 1951, the eldest child of Roy and Virginia (Beebe) Cook.

Lance loved and enjoyed all his siblings who followed. This son always held a special place in his heart for his mother, Virginia.

In his late teens, Lance met the love of his life, Judith Holmes, and soon married July 1, 1969. Together, they lost little time beginning their own family of six boys, who have in turn provided them several precious grandchildren.

For a brief time, Lance worked as a carpenter before beginning a 38-year career at Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics (formerly Sandon and Norton Performance Plastics). From 1972 until his retirement in 2010, Lance worked on the production floor and later in the maintenance department.

With a love of nature and outdoors, Lance enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. Other hobbies included bowling, table soccer, billiards and several card games. In time, Lance and Judy discovered their mutual love of the Maine coastline and lighthouses. He treasured even the simple pleasure of watching television together with his wife.

Lance was predeceased by his father, Roy Cook.

Survivors are his mother, Virginia Beattie; his beloved wife, Judith; and their six sons, Randall and his companion, John Kinnicut, of Rochester, N.Y., Russell and his wife, Bonnie, of Whitehall, Trevor of New Orleans, La., Tracey and his significant other, Cassandra Bush, of Danby, Vt., Justin and his wife, Jamie, of Granville and Jordan and his significant other, Becky McDonald, of Granville. He was blessed with five grandchildren: Ariana, Jasmine, Aislin and Lilian and a soon to arrive grandson. In addition, Lance is survived by his siblings, Michael and his wife, Tina, of Danby, Vt., Mark and his wife, Neva, of Hebron, David Beattie of Maryland, Jenny Wilday of Danby, Vt., Mary Gebo and her husband, Floyd, of Whitehall, June Burch of Hebron and Tina Williams also of Hebron; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at Robert M. King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville, N.Y.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
