Ellen was the daughter of John Deere. In 1851 she married 32-year-old Christopher Columbus Webber when she was 19, and they had six children together before he died in 1865. Ellen was left a single parent, much like her own mother and grandmother. One of their sons, Charles C. Webber would later become an influential vice-president of Deere & Company. Ellen died at age 65 after a stroke left her an invalid for a few years.
