Walter J. Barrett, 78, of 257 N. McKean St., Kittanning, died at 9:28 p.m. yesterday of an Apparent heart seizure, at North Hill Passavant Hospital. where he had been a patient for the past seven days.
He was born Feb. 1, 1892 in North Point (Jefferson County), the son of Samuel and Alfreda (Lamison) Barrett.
Barrett was a retired self-employed buisnessman. He was a member of Elks Lodge 339, Pittsburgh; the Kittanning American Legion Post; and the Kittanning County Club. He was also a veteran of World War I.
Surviving is his sister, Mrs. William (Mae) Mitchell of Pittsburgh.
His wife, Jean (Black) Barrett, preceded him in death in 1949.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. this evening and from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Amberson C. Bauer Funeral Home, Kittanning, where service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 8. The Rev. Robert H. Thurau, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church of Kittanning, will officiate. Interment will be in Lawn Haven Burial Estates.
