Carl M. Bassett, 65,of 615 North Fifth Street, died at 8:50 a.m. today in Pawating Hospital where he had been a patient for the past two weeks.

Bassett was born June 17, 1891, in Clarendon, Mich., and came to Niles 11 years ago from South Bend. He was a member of St. Joseph Valley Lodge No. 4, F. and A.M. Surviving are: his wife, Lois; a daughter, Mrs. Charles Couzens of South Bend; one grandson, and a sister, Mrs. George Turner, of Algonac, Mich.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday in the Pifer Funeral Home with the Rev. Herbert Muessling, pastor of St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church, officiating. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery with Masonic rites at the graveside. Friends may call at the funeral home.
