Obituary for Carolyn J. Thomas

Carolyn Thomas, 63, of Circleville, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Grant Hospital, with family by her side. She was born January 27, 1950 in Circleville, the daughter of the late Robert Miller and Rosa (Jacob) Roundhouse.

She graduated from Circleville High School in 1968 and Summa Cum Laude from Ohio University in 1972. Carolyn was retired from Circleville City Schools where she had been a science teacher for 35 years.

She had a passion for teaching others and was recognized as the Outstanding Educator for the 1977-1978 school year.

Carolyn was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and served as a volunteer at Berger Hospital and on the board of Hitler-Ludwig Cemetery.

She was a former EMT with the Circleville Emergency Squad and was a 4-H Advisor for many years. Carolyn enjoyed animals of all kinds but especially horses and cats.

She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she had served in many capacities including teaching Sunday and Bible school, serving on Church Council and as a communion assistant.

Carolyn's greatest joy in life was being a wife and mother. She leaves behind her loving family, husband, Randy Thomas; children, Alison (Adam) Gross and Heath Thomas; sister, Judy Roundhouse; brother, Jim Roundhouse; nephews Rob and Joseph Roundhouse; cousin Margaret Stout; brother- and sister-in-law, Dave and Connie Thomas; and many, many friends, including special friends, Jerri Rapp and Mary Burke.

A celebration of Carolyn's life will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Circleville with Pastor John Michles and The Rev. Dr. Gerhard Kraus officiating.

Burial will be in Hitler-Ludwig Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Wednesday at Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home.
