Joseph was the son of George Nieman and Josephine Pille. he did not marry.

April 28, 1980 - Daily Times Herald - Mass of the Christian Burial for Joseph B. Nieman, 89, of Carroll, was celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, April 28, at Holy Spirit church with the Rev. Roger Augustine, V.F., officiating.

Mr. Nieman, a laborer and at one time a newspaper motor carrier, died at 5:15 a.m. Saturday, April 26, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital where he had been a patient for a week. Burial was in Mt. Olivet cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by Maurice Dunn Post of the American Legion.

Pallbearers were James Furey, Virgil Tacke, Leo Clark, Paul Eischeid, Webb Dentlinger, and Henry Seidl. A rosary was recited at 8 p.m. Sunday in the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll.

Mr. Nieman is survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was born Oct. 26, 1890 at Independence, Iowa, a son of George and Josephine Pille Nieman. He came to Carroll County when he was young and lived in this area most of his life with the exception of two years spent in San Francisco, Calif. He was never married.
