From a 1903 Nance County, Nebraska, newspaper clipping file, transcribed by Linda Berney:
Last Friday William F. Rolph, father of S. F. Rolph, died after an illness of one week. Perhaps there was no one in Fullerton so well known as "Grandpa Rolph."
The deceased was born September 6th, 1815 at Cornith, Tioga county, N. Y., and would have reached his 88th birthday had he lived two more days. He has made his home with his son in this city for the past 14 years.
He was the father of 9 children, of whom one son and four daughters survived him viz: S. F. Rolph; Mrs. Chas Marble of Shelton, Neb; Mrs. John Schoonhoven of Elgin, Ill; Mrs. Geo. Duncan, of South Haven, Mich; and Mr. W. E. Fish of
Orlean, N. Y.
The funeral services were held Sunday morning from the Presbyterian church, conducted by Rev. Ray.
