Last Wednesday, June 30, 1920, Spencer Lowell COOPER died at his home on J Street in Linton, after a short illness. He had been in failing health for some time, but he was cheerful in spite of his suffering and endeavored to do his daily duty without complaining. He lived in Bloomfield for several years and he had many friends who are grieved to learn of his death. He was fair, honest, out-spoken, and truly a friend to those whom he liked.

The deceased was born near Koleen on July 4, 1865 and therefore was aged fifty-four years, eleven months and twenty-five days when he was called home. His parents died several years ago.

He was married to Martha HUDSON, of Scotland, on September 27, 1887, and to this union five children, two boys and three girls, were born. One child, Claude, died at the age of one year. The surviving children are Mrs. Maud HAROLD, of Bicknell, Mrs. Leota WALLS, of Willow Hill, Illinois, Miss Lucile COOPER and Hobart COOPER, who with the mother mourn the death of a kind and indulgent father and husband. He also leaves three brothers, E. H. COOPER, of Willow Hill, Illinois, John COOPER, of Fredericktown, Missouri, and a half-brother, James AULT, of Worthington, besides many other relatives and friends.

Short funeral services were conducted at the family home in Linton last Thursday noon, after which the remains were taken to the Walnut Grove Cemetery, east of Bloomfield, for interment.
