Mrs. Josephine S. Bridger of Columbia, a retired Columbia High School teacher, died in the Caldwell Hospital here Wednesday night following an illness of about one year. She was 65 years of age and was the wife of Hart[l]ey C. Bridger, local cotton and stock buyer.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Friday in the First Baptist Church with the pastor, the Rev. Jimmy Bolton in charge; he was assisted by the Rev. D. T. Williams, pastor of the First Methodist Church of Columbia.
Burial was made in the Columbia Hill cemetery under the direction of the Riser and Son Funeral Home of Columbia.
Mrs. Bridger, a native of Alabama, was at one time very active in civic and church work here. She was a long-time member of the Columbia Eastern Star Chapter No. 147, a member of the First Baptist church of Columbia, and an officer in the Louisiana Women's Missionary Union.
Survivors are her husband, H. C. Bridger of Columbia; a daughter, Mrs. Roberta Durham of Columbia; a sister, Mrs. M. L. Miles of Orville, Ala., and three grandsons.
