I heard the following story for years from my grandmother, MILDRED (his grand daughter)but never thought much about the story until I sent away years later for his death certificate and along with it was an inquiry into his death to make sure it was an accident and not a homicide. My grandmother thought he laid there and died but in fact he died several days later in the hospital. Here is what she told me: "My grandfather fell into the alley behind his two story house when the banister gave way while putting his foot up on the railing to tie his shoe and was left lying in the alley because the people walking by thought he was just a drunk laying there". Although his wifes name is on the headstone, she was not buried in the plot with him because she lived in several places including Michigan and California.
