Abram Butler enlisted with the Union in the Civil War on 13 Feb 1865 as a Private, Company G, 150th Infantry Regt. Indiana. He was mustered out of service on 5 Aug 1865 from the same company in Jordan's Spring, VA.

He married Catherine M. McWherter. They were married 8 June 1868 in Iroquois Co., Illinois. They had at least one child named Mark P. Butler born c 1874 either in IN, AR or KS (two different census records had KS, the remaining showed IN & AR)
Catherine Butler was found on 1910 & 1920 in Avoca Twp., Village of Asher, OK Census as being born in OH. Adam must have died previous to the 1910 census as she was listed as widow. They were not found on the 1900 census at all.
