ohn Cornelius Daenzer, 62, of Naples, Fla., and formerly of Greensboro, N.C., died Thursday, April 7, 2011, at his residence. Mr. Daenzer was born April 21, 1948 in New haven, Conn. He was a 1967 graduate of Columbia High School in Maplewood, NJ and received his Associate degree from Arkansas St. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1968-78 and was a Vietnam War veteran. He was a member of Everglades Amateur Radio Club (HAM) K14PHF. Our father, John was a devout catholic and volunteered regularly as a lector and Eucharistic Minister at St. Justin Martyr Catholic Church and Chapel in Ocean Reef, Fla. For over 10 years, he dedicated his life to the care of his father and our grandfather, Bernard Daenzer, who passed away in March 2010. If anyone in the family was in need, he never hesitated to assist and no matter where he was, he would ALWAYS take your call. John took great joy as a HAM radio operator and was most proud of his service during the Vietnam War, where he met his wife of 25 years before her untimely death in 1996. He also made an effort to attend his Columbia High School Florida Chapter Alumni Association getaway each year. Our dad was a wiz when it came to do with anything related to computer programming or computer hardware and he enjoyed connecting with old friends online. While his giving nature was his legacy, his sense of humor will be what we miss the most.

Survivors include a son, Christopher Daenzer of Naples, Fla.; daughter, Michele Sapp of Asheville, N.C.; sister, Jean Aiken of Sunnyvale,Calif.; and brother, Peter Daenzer of Los Angeles, Calif. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Gordon Daenzer, in 1996; mother, Valerie Daenzer, in 2004; brother, Bernard Daenzer, in 2010; brother, George Daenzer and brother, Richard Daenzer, in 1994.

A Mass of Catholic Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 15 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Greensboro. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Forbis and Dick, North Elm Chapel, Greensboro, N.C., is serving the Daenzer family and online condolences may be offered at www.forbisanddick.com.
