Per "Cody Family in America": Lydia, the wife of Philip was daughter of Robert and Betsey (Lewis) Martin, her family pioneers of Connecticut, near Hartford. Tradition says her maternal grandmother lived to the age of 114, a member of the Hartford Pratt family, some of whom pioneered to New York State, and it was while visiting at their home that Lydia came to know Philip Cody. Her paternal grandfather who was of Irish ancestry, told his children that he remembered the "court dresses" which his grandmother had brought from Ireland. From what part of Ireland is not known but all members of this family seemed always distinctly Protestant. Lydia, preceded her husband in death by three years. Both she and Philip lie in Lake View Cemetery on the lot of their grandson the late Lindus Cody, their graves suitably marked" Lydia and Philip were in Toronto Canada area from at least 1798 - 1820 where their children were born.
