Word was received here of the death of Ira Abbott [sic] of Columbia on Sunday. He formerly lived here.

We were sorry to learn of Ira Abbott's death. He was like the good old Abbott of a brother that placed a warning bell near the rock to keep ships off them. We read about this in one of our readers back in the nineties.

NEWARK
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon for Ira Abbott of Columbia, formerly of here. They were held at the Newark Christian church with Rev. Yates of Columbia officiating. He was survived by his daughter, Mrs. Clarence Pierce, two grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. He was proceeded In death by his wife on March 9 of this year.
