He was a member of the Wyatt Park Christian Church, serving as Deacon, Elder, and Treasurer. He was given the life service award in 2003.
Mr. Cooper was a lifetime member of the Charity Zeredatha Lodge – No. 189, A.F. & A.M., Thirty-second Degree Scottish Rite Mason; Moila Shrine; and High Twelve Club No. 49; Royal Order of Jesters Court No. 98.
He served as a volunteer for the retired senior volunteer program and served on the board of Danford Hall Senior Housing. He coached little league baseball for several years.
On May 17, 1947 he married Rosemary D. Campbell in St. Joseph, Missouri, she survives the home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellis Sr. and Lucille Cooper; and brothers, Byron and Wayne.
Survivors: wife; daughter, Cheryl Baldwin (Don) of St. Joseph, Missouri; sons, Gregory Cooper (Sharon) of Plano, Texas and James Cooper (Denise) of Wichita, Kansas; grandchildren, Ryan, Brady, Matthew, Kristy, and Rocky; six great-grandchildren; brother, Max Cooper; sister, Leona Capehart of Kansas City; sisters-in-law, Sarretta Cooper and Nancy Cooper; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services: 3:00 P.M. Monday, Wyatt Park Christian Church. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery.
