Walter Joseph Ritchie was the Son of Theodore Ritchie, and Mary Helmstead. He was the husband of Lucille Irene Corson, father of Julia Ritchie Hand. Walter Ritchie Served in WWII in the Pacific. He was wounded in battle, received the purple heart, and was honorably discharged. Returned home and worked as a Merchant Marine. Murdered at sea in 1946 while traveling on a merchant marine ship under the Panamanian flag. Employed by the Atlantic Refinery. My grandmother Lucille Corson sued and won. Unlawful death. Walter Ritchie's remains were never recovered.
