Jeffie Mae was the daughter of Levi and Pauline Grimes Hughes. She married David Taylor Lear, son of Joseph and Bessie Taylor Lear, on October 10, 1917. Their marriage ended in divorce.
She married James Walter, the son of Timothy and Nannie McWilliams Grimes. The couple were the parents of of Ardell and Rena Hill Grimes.
•Mrs. Jeffie Hughes Grimes, 73, of 110 Rarick Avenue, Nicholasville, was dead on arrival at the Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington, at 8:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 7. She was the widow of Walter Grimes, and was a member of the Sulphur Well Christian Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Joe (Rena) Owens, Nicholasville, and Mrs. J.D. (Ardell) Miller, Jessamine County; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
•Funeral services for Mrs. Jeffie Mae Hughes Grimes, of 110 Rarick Avenue, Nicholasville, who died Wednesday, August 7, were held Saturday Aug. 10 at the Guyn, Kurtz, Hager and Cundiff Funeral Home by Brother J. Farris Baird and Rev. John C. Kayton. Burial was in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Bearers were Allen Masters, W.L. Fain, Harrison Dean, James E. Bowman, Walden Masters and Herbert Bastin.
Mrs. Grimes is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Joe (Rena) Owens, Nicholasville and Mrs. J.D. (Ardell) Miller, Jessamine County, and six grandchildren.
