DAVENPORT - Funeral services to celebrate the life of Ted W. Hendricksen, 64, a resident of Davenport, will be 11 a.m. Thursday, December 11, 2008, in the All Faith Chapel at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will greet friends Wednesday at the funeral home from 3 until 7 p.m.

Ted died unexpectedly following a brief illness on Sunday, December 7, 2008, at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus.

Ted Wayne Hendricksen was born May 19, 1944, in Davenport, Iowa, a son of Ralph and Cleo (Sanders) Hendricksen. Ted was a loving husband, father and brother. He was united in marriage to Barbara Jean Hamilton in 1968 and was married for 40 loving years.

Ted retired earlier this year from Oscar Mayer after 17 years. He made many friends who called him Teddy Bear. He lived in Davenport all his life and attended Davenport schools. He loved to hunt and fish and proudly supported the NRA and Ducks Unlimited but his greatest joy in life came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved cooking, baking and trying new recipes, and was famous for his salsa. He also enjoyed helping to make all the Christmas cookies and fudge.

Memorials may be made to the family.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Barbara, of Davenport; two daughters and a son-in-law, Carol and Greg Lillyblade and Judy Anthony, all of Davenport; five grandchildrern, Matt (Robyn) Burmeister, Jerry Burmeister, Sara McCrindle (Sean Buffington), Breanna Garnica and Nate Garnica; four great-grandchildren; Anastashia, Elizabeth, Lucki, and Allen; his brothers, James (Debbie) Hendricksen, and Robert (Sammy) Hendricksen, all of Davenport, and Rick (Barb) Hendricksen, Rock Island; his sisters, Selma Hilleman, and Margie (Jack) Sampica, Bessie (Bill) Hitchcock, and Brenda Fowler, all of Davenport, and Ruth (Leonard) Fischer, Seaford, Del.; his sisters-in-law, Mary Rogers, of Illinois, and Sibal Deters, Davenport; as well as numerous loving nieces and nephews.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents, and five siblings, Sonny, Donald, Jewel, Bud (John), and Donna.
