Mrs. Theodore P. Koikas dies here Tuesday evening

Mrs Theodore P. Koikas, 49, well known Ludington business woman of lower Hamlin Lake, Route 3 Ludington, died at 8:10 p.m. Tuesday evening at Memorial Hospital of Mason County after an illness of several months.

Betty Jane Haynor was born March 28, 1925 in Holton and came to Ludington when she was four years old with her family. She had lived here ever since.

She was married on Nov. 27, 1942 in Ludington to Theodore P (Ted) Koikas, who survives.

The couple owned and operated the Old Hamlin Restaurant in Ludington from 1946 until selling it eight years ago. They then built the Koikas Gift Shop and Downtown Deli buildings. They owned and operated those businesses together until selling and retiring in April 1974.

She was affiliated with the Ludington Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are one daughter, Mrs. Allan (Helen Christine) Copenhaver of Lower Hamlin Lake; one son, Theodore P Koikas, Jr, at home.; two grandchildren, Aimee and Peter Copenhaver; four sisters, Mrs. Robert (Sylvia) Nixon of Russell, Kansas, Mrs Luther (Lillian ) Wilkes of Farmington, Mrs. Raymond (Mary) Graines of Walhella and Mrs Harry (Eleanor) Dill of St. Petersburg, Florida; three brothers, Paul Haynor of Fort Richey, Florida; Arthur R Haynor of Ludington and Bryon C Haynor of Tampa, Fla. and two half brothers, Lloyd Haynor of Ludington and Edward of Newaygo, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, February 21, 1975 at the Dorrell Funeral Home with Pastor Arthur Covell of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Kalamazoo officiating.

Friends may call at the Dorrell Funeral Home after 2 p.m. Thursday where the family will receive friends Thursday from 7 - 8:30 p.m.

Interment will be in the Lakeview Cemetery.

The family suggests that those considering an expression of sympathy consider the American Cancer Society.
