Erma Azevedo, 87, of Stevinson passed away at home with family at her side on Saturday. She was born in Lemoore, CA to Manuel and Maria Toste in 1922. In 1935, her family moved to the Azores, and she married Antonio B. Azevedo in 1941. They moved back to California in 1947 and had lived in Stevinson for 56 years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Stevinson. Erma was also a member of many catholic organizations. She and her husband had traveled to many places with the Merced County Sheriff Posse. They also took many cruises. Her and her husband returned to the Azores many times.
Erma is survived by her children Mary Bucholtz, Gloria Homen and Tony Azevedo; brother Tony Toste; and eleven grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 13 great great grandchildren. Erma is preceded in death by her husband Antonio B. Azevedo; daughter Bertha M Azevedo, and sister Maria T. Machado.
Arrangements are entrusted to Allen Mortuary. A rosary will be said at Allen Mortuary on Tuesday, June 23 at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Mary's in Stevinson on Wednesday, June 24 at 10:00 a.m. with burial following at Sunnyside Cemetery.
