Gabe, born in Alabama, was the son of Pleasant Stephen Miles and Lucinda Ramsey (also seen as Bethany Mooney Ramsey).

He married Artemitia "Artie" A. Lloyd on 10 September 1868 in LCT. The marriage record lists them as G.D. Miles and A.A. Lloyd.

According to the 1850 ("Artemisha") and 1860 ("Artemitia") LCT censuses, as well as death records of her siblings and her parents' entry on Find-a-Grave, she was the daughter of Steven "Steve" D. Lloyd and Sarah "Sally" C. Watson.

She is seen as Ottie, Audrey, and other names, but the most common "full" names for her are the variants on Artimitia, as seen from the aforementioned entries wherein she was living at home with her parents. Furthermore, their entries on Find-a-Grave list their eldest child as "Artemitia," as she was listed in 1860.

The transcription for the 1910 LCT census lists her as "Artomnia."

Along these lines, the death certificate for one of her children with Gabe (Stephen) indicates the mother was Artie Michia Lloyd, where the person filling out the form mistook the long first name for a first and middle.

Some people have given her middle name as Audrey, but taking into account the repeated mistakes with her first name, one would be hard pressed to prove it.

One death date is listed for her as 1917; she does not appear with Gabe in the 1920 LCT Census.

As it happens, she died in 1914. And the obit got her name wrong yet again.

Gabe was a Civil War veteran, having fought with Company G, 4th Alabama. He is listed among the attendees of the big reunion held in Fayetteville on 16 September 1909.
