|Birth: ||May, 1823|
|Death: ||Jun., 1923|
William T. Coon was the son of John Henry Coon and Elizabeth Deeds. By 1850 he was a farmer living in Missouri married to Susanna Hughes. After her death he married Priscilla Beasley and moved to Mercer County. Missouri.
When the Civl War broke out he joined Co E, 6th Battalion State Militia of Mercer County. He was captured and spent 11 months as a prisoner. Evidentally he reenlisted in Co F 2nd Illinois Cavalry as he is on their rolls and has a military marker for this unit on his grave.
He is on the 1870 census for Piatt County, Mo and the 1880 census for Jackson, Sullivan County, Missouri.
At some point he moved to Garfield County, Montana probably after it was opened for homesteading.
He is buried in the Coon Cemetery which appears to be mostly his large extended family. It is located near the Musselshell River Breaks.
