Walter E. Weidt was born March 26, 1890 in Onawa, Iowa and passed from this life in the Burgess Memorial Hospital on December 20, 1971. Death came at the age of 81 years. Mr. Weidt chose farming as his vacation and spent his lifetime in this work. He was united in marriage with Della Pitts on April 25, 1913 at Onawa. He was a life long resident of this community. Survivors include his wife Della of Rosemead, Calif; one son Walter of Sacramento, California, one daughter, Mrs. Virgil (Marcella) Smith of Onawa; one brother Paul Weidt of Onawa; 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two daughters; Olivene Gray and Joyce Lackey; three sisters and one brother. Services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 22, 1971 at the Pearson Funeral Chapel in Onawa, with the Rev. Everett Epperson officiating. Clara Kelley was the organist. Bearers were Jim Tyson, Howard Smith, David Smith, Harvey Pitts, Harry Pitts, and Paul Weidt, Jr. Interment was in the Onawa Cemtery with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home.
