The first few years of married life the couple lived on a farm near St Rose. In 1907 they moved to the St Rose community, where Mr. Diekmann operated a tavern.

From St. Rose marriage records: parents Gerhard Diekmann and Elisabeth Deben. Came to US in 1884. Older brother Gerhard Diekmann (1852-1935) arrived in 1881 and is buried in St Francis Cemetery.
