Civil War: Company I, 3rd California Infantry
Carlos V. Willmott enlisted for one year as a private at Mokelumne Hill, California, September 24, 1861, and was mustered into Company I, 3rd California Infantry, on October 1. Private Willmott later transferred to Field & Staff as a 3rd class musician and assigned to the regimental band. He was mustered out at Fort Ruby, Nevada Territory, September 23, 1862 (Orton, 523, 589).
