| Birth: | unknown | | Death: | Jun. 1, 1889 |  Civil War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. Served in the Civil War as a Private in Company B, 5th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. He was awarded the CMOH for his bravery at the Battle of Port Republic, Virginia on June 9, 1862. His citation reads “Mounted an artillery horse of the enemy and captured a brass 6 pound piece in the face of the enemy's fire and brought it to the rear”. His Medal was issued on March 14, 1864. He was one of three 5th Ohio soldiers to be awarded the Medal of Honor for bravery during the Civil War (the others being Private John P. Murphy and Corporal George W. Tyrrell). (bio by: Russ Dodge)
