Dorothy Louise Williams Cathey
BOSSIER CITY. LA - Dorothy Louise Williams Cathay stepped quietly into heaven on May 8, 2006. Funeral Service for Mrs. Cathey will be held at First United Methodist Church in Bossier City, LA at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, May 15, 2006, followed by a graveside service held at Forest Park Cemetery in Shreveport, LA. Officiating will be Rev. David Dietzel, Rev. John Robert Black and Rev. Mark Goins. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday; May 14, 2006 at Rose Neath Funeral Home in Bossier City, LA.

Dorothy was born in Jefferson, Texas in 1924 to T.E. Williams Sr. and Margaret L. Mullinax. She married James L. Cathey Jr. in 1941. She was a loving, supportive, and dedicated wife during his years of service to Bossier City. Dorothy was involved in education and politics throughout her life and her contributions to the cormmunity are innumerable. However, the "work" that Dorothy felt was the most important was that of sharing her faith in God and her Lord Jesus Christ to those around her. As a wife, mother, grandmother, friend and teacher, Dorothy was a rock, a guiding force, and a shining example of what it meant to be God's good and faithful servant. She had a passion for education, evangelism and prayer. Serving her church in many capacities and never wavering from her Christian beliefs.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Cathey, Jr.

She is survived by three daughters: Sharon Thorn of Benton, LA, Karen Green and Fred of Albuquerque, NM, Kathe Newsome of Bossier City, LA; four granddaughters: Ammiee Morgan and Mike of Bossier City, LA, Jenny Prejean and Charles of Lafayette, LA, April Miller and Barry of Portland, OR, Elizabeth Zaunbrecher and Martin of Lake Charles, LA; seven great grand-children and one great-great grand-daughter brother, T.E. "Sonny" Williams, Jr; and Hallie of Haughton, LA; Mary Francis Robinson, her "aunt of , Homer,LA, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Mrs. Cathey's family: Fred Green, Mike Morgan, Barry Miller, Pfc. Robert Taylor Elliott, Trey Huffstickler, Jim Williams. Honorary pallbearers, are Johnny Wyatt, Don Jones, Bob Ess, Charles Preiean, Robert and Bryan Dumas.

CATHEY -- DOROTHY L. On May 8, 2006 Dorothy L. Cathey, a life-long resident of Bossier City, LA, quietly stepped into heaven. She was temporarily living in Albuquerque. She is survived by three daughters: Karen Green and husband, Fred of Albuquerque, Kathe Newsome of Bossier City, LA and Sharon Thorn of Benton, LA. While she had numerous adventures in her 82 years, she would want to be remembered for her sharing of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to family, friends, and others. Burial will be in Louisiana. The family wishes to thank their friends, the staffs of Vista del Rio Retirement Community and Presbyterian Hospice for their love and care during Dorothy's stay and illness.
