William D. Jones, 80, of Steubenville died Saturday, July 30, 2005, in the Palliative Care Unit of Valley Hospice.

He was born Nov. 25, 1924 in Steubenville, a son of the late DeMarr and Blanche Carlisle Jones. He is also preceded in death by a brother, Paul T. Jones.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Betty Drayer Jones, whom he married July 10, 1945; two nephews, both of Florida and four great-nieces and two great-nephews.

Bill retired from Weirton Steel Co. in 1971; was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the Masonic Lodge F&AM 45; served his country in the Army during WWII; and was a Presbyterian by faith.

There will be no visitation. Private services were held today at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel with Rev. P. Douglas George officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

In memory of your great grandparents, William Benton Jones Sr and Jennie Horner Jones. I am deeply saddened to read about the death of William Demarr Jones. He was my 3rd cousin.
