Partial Obituary:
"Charles Forward, 65, was found dead in his car this morning just off the Groton Road near the county line, a victim of monoxide gas poisoning. He was born in Kent County, England, February 6, 1872, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Forward. He came to this country when he was 17 years of age and lived most of the time in Cortland and vicinity. He was a yard superintendent with the Peckham & Morgan Coal Company for the past 16 years. He was twice married, his first wife [** Lena T. LYON} having passed some 17 years ago. Besides his wife, Mrs. Grace M. Forward, he is survived by two sons, Roy and Ralph Forward, both of Syracuse; four step-children: Franklin H. Schouten of Midland, Tex., Mrs. A. E. Brainard of Denver, Col., Mrs. Francis P. Collins of Bennettsville, and Mrs. Earl E. Robinson of Cortland; two sisters, Mrs. H. D. Marable of South Pasadena, Calif., and Mrs. Joseph Weddle of Homer; two brothers, Walter Forward of Ithaca, and Henry Forward of Cortland; and several nieces and nephews. Burial will be made in Cortland Rural Cemetery."
