Documents from the National Archives on Fold3, Ancestry suggest that he was first buried on the post in Brownsville, Texas after dying of smallpox and later moved to the Alexandria National Cemetery at Pineville, Louisiana. The stone at Roundgrove / Coynes is a cenotaph.
