Officer Dennis G. Francis, DSN 7938, received his commission as a Police Officer and entered the academy for the Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Department on 08/31/1970. After the academy he held the following assignments through out his career. They were the 1St, 5Th, Prisoner Processing Division, Identification Section, 6Th, and finally the Communication Division. Officer Francis retired from the department on a non-work related disability on 10/27/1986. At that time he had completed 16.16 years of faithful and dedicated service to the Saint Louis Police Department. Officer Francis was also a veteran of the United States Army and achieved the rank of a Specialist 5Th Class.
