Nickmamed "El Tigre del Bandoneón" (The Tiger of the Bandoneón), Arolas was one of the leaders of the modern tango. He composed more than one hundred pieces like "El Marne," "La Cachila," "Retintín," "Viborita," and "Làgrimas." He was advanced for his time in composition and also in tango playing. He died young, poor and alcoholic in Paris. His remains were repatriated to Argentina in 1954. (bio by: 380W)
