Mrs. Jeff Van Horn Answers Final Summons
Mrs. Mary Van Horn, wife of Jefferson Van Horn, passed away at her home northwest of Blair, at 2:15 a.m., Sunday, August 19, 1923, after an illness of several years, the last few months of which she had been confined to her bed the greater part of the time.
Mary Vizina was born in Montreal, Canada, Dec. 16, 1865, and when only a small child, came with her parents to Washington county, Nebr., where her father homesteaded the land which was her home for the greater part of her life and on which she died. She was married Oct. 11, 1886, to Jefferson Van Horn of Washington county, and to them were born two sons, James V. Van Horn and Edward J. Van Horn, both of this county.
She leaves to sincerely mourn the loss of a true wife, a devoted mother and faithful friend, her husband, two sons, a daughter-in-law, and two small grandchildren, several brothers and sisters, and many other relatives and many friends.
The funeral was held at Herman on Tuesday afternoon, conducted by her old time friend and neighbor, the Rev. John Poucher of Omaha and burial was made in the Blair cemetery where many of her relatives now sleep.
