Clyde Stacy
Original name: Haskell Clyde Stacy
Birth: Aug. 11, 1936
McIntosh County
Oklahoma, USA
Death: Nov. 6, 2013
Muskogee County
Oklahoma, USA

Musician. He is attributed as being one of the first Tulsa Sound musicians to have a nationally charted record, "Hoy Hoy" and "So Young". Some say that he is the first to achieve this status. "Hoy Hoy" and "So Young" was a double sided hit released in 1957 by Candlelight Records. This recording reached the Top Ten in Canada, but in the United States it was in the lower section of the Billboard's Hot 100. His next single, "Dream Boy" was also more popular in Canada than in the U. S. The trend remained the same for his following recording, always being more popular in Canada than in the United States. The group Stacy performed with was the NiteCaps. They included Rick Eilerts, Bill Torbett, and John D Levan. John D. Levan was the lead guitarist for Clyde Stacy in 1955, and again in 1957. When Clyde was in his teens, he lived in Lubbock, Texas. There, he attended the same High School as Buddy Holly. Stacy and Buddy Holly played some music together and became friends because they both had an interest in a music career. Stacy performed not only in Oklahoma and all over the United States, but also did shows in Europe. Clyde Stacy retired in 1985, although after retirement he still played special events and some other shows. His full name is Haskell Clyde Stacy, but was known to the world as Clyde Stacy. (bio by: cjgriffith)
