Rites Held For Thomas D. Vahle Monday, April 28
Funeral services were held for Thomas D. Vahle at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Blair last Monday, April 28th. Vahle had died early Saturday at the Immanuel Hospital in Omaha following an injury he had received a few hours previously.
Thomas Dean Vahle was born on September 5, 1942, and died on April 26th, 1975 at the age of 32 years. He was baptized September 27, 1942 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Wisner, and confirmed in the faith on March 25, 1956, also at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He was graduated from Wisner High School in 1960, and joined the Army reserves that same year.
Thomas Vahle is survived by his wife, their three daughters; his parents, a brother, a sister, and eleven nieces and nephews.
The mourners also include his wife's parents, many aunts, uncles and friends, especially his close friend and business partner.
Death was attributed to a gunshot wound inflicted a few hours prior to his death. The early morning incident took place at the August Moon Apartments in Omaha between Vahle and a young man 20 years of age whom he had met for the first time that evening. Witnesses told police that there had been an argument. Deputies said that Vahle apparently went home and later returned to the apartment of the younger man where the shooting reportedly took place.
