Hopkinsville Lodge No. 183
Gonzales County Texas
October the 19th AD 1867. A.L. 5867.
Whereas, it has pleased the Supreme Architect of the Universe, in his infinite and inscrutable wisdom to remove from our midst our beloved Brother Rev. Henry Long, August the 16th 1867.
Therefore be it resolved, that while we express the deepest sorrow that fills our hearts at the sudden departure, from among us of one whose noble and genrouse traits, and whose kind benevolent and truly good conduct, has rendered dear to all who knew him, an ornament to our Order, a pleasant companion and a valuable friend and while we feel that our loss is irreparable we at the same time acknowledge the wisdom and humbly submit to the chastening hand of him who doeth all things well, and without whose knowledge not a sparrow falleth to the ground.
Resolve, that his noble life and bearing as a Mason, and as a man were worthy of our emulation, his unassuming modesty characteristic of our principles as a fraternity and his integrity in the path of duty making him a good man in private as well as in public and ?? life.
Resolved, that whiltst we mourn him dead, and honor his memory, we are not without hope that he has been called to that celestial lodge above where the Grand Master of the universe forever rules forever presides.
Resolved, we deeply sympathize as Masons with his bereaved family in this their hour of bereavement, and ask them not to mourn without hope.
Resolved, that the Lodge be suitable draped, and that we assume, and wear the usual badge of mourning for thirty days.
Resolved, that a copy of these resolutions expressive of our regard for our deceased Brother be furnished his mourning family, and also inscribed upon our records of the Lodge.
