His obituary in the Carroll Free Press, Carrollton, Ohio, Wednesday, September 14, 1887.

Isaac Crumrine died of cancerous enlargement of the liver, at his home on the corner of Canal and Lisbon Streets, after a few weeks illness, Sunday night, aged 64 years, 7 months and 11 days. A post mortem was held Monday noon by Drs. Skeeles, Tripp, Williams, Long and Zeigler, the latter performing the manual operation. The autopsy showed that the liver was enormously enlarged and dotted over the entire surface with hard, cancerous black spots. This organ weighed 14 1/2 lbs. avoirdupois, and measuring near 18 inches; while the average liver in a normal condition weighs but 3 to 4 pounds and measures 19 to 12 inches. Samples of the liver were taken by the physicians for further examination by specialists. It is supposed that the same trouble which necessitated the taking out of his eye, a few months ago, became constitutional and finally ended his life.
Mr. Crumrine was born with in a few miles of Gettysburgh, Pennsylvania, on the 31st of January, 1823, and located in this part of Ohio when yet a young man, working at the black-smith trade. On the 9th of October 1845 he married Susanna Aller, and by industry and economy he accumulated a fair competency. He leaves a widow, two sons and three married daughters, all of whom have arrived at years of majority. At the time of his death he was possessed of considerable real estate and town property about Carrollton and one quarter section of the 16 school lands in Harrison Township. His manner of life was frugal and industrious, having accumulated much of his possessions while in the mercantile business, now managed by his son George. During his last illness he disposed of his property by will, the contents of which has not yet been made public. The funeral took place from his late residence at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon, Rev. Schmucker, of the Lutheran Church officiating.

Information researched by Richard Paul Culler of Carrollton, Ohio.
