Larry Martin Iverson died at home Oct. 11, 2005, after a long battle with lung cancer.
He was born at Fitzsimmons Air Force Base Hospital in Denver Jan. 5, 1943, to John and Ruby Iverson.
A resident of Fairfield since 1954, he attended Fairfield Elementary and was a graduate of Armijo High School class of 1961. After graduation he served three years in the U.S. Army as a track vehicle mechanic and then spent a year in Alaska as a radar station security guard. He worked for Sheldon Oil Co. while it was downtown Suisun City, staying with the company as it made the transition to Telfer Oil Co. in Martinez. He worked his way up from yardman to spreaderman and then finally upon retirement he was the No. 1 transport driver on the Seniority Board. In all he spent more than 32 years with the company.
He was a past member of Teamster Union Local No. 490 in Vallejo but retired from Local No. 315 in Martinez. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church. He gave his heart to the Lord and was baptized May 5, 2002, by the Rev. Robert D. Lewis.
His favorite pastimes were camping, exploring with his metal detector, and collecting Hot Wheels. He was a lifetime member of Good Sam RV Owners Club.
He is survived by his wife, Bernadean; daughter, Pippa Iverson; son, Freeman Iverson; grandchildren, Gabrielle, Garron, Robert, Lyndsay and Hailey; mother, Ruby Iverson; mother-in-law, Windy Green; sisters, Janice (Ray) Walker and Jenny (Bob) Rykert; brothers, David (Ann) and Tom (Lessie) Iverson; brother-in-law, Allen (Linda) Green; many nieces and nephews; and his best friends, Orville Hardin and John Borden.
He was preceded in death by his father, John, and daughter Laura.
Aged 62 years.
