DAVENPORT - Rodger Eugene Kelley, Jr., 48, of Davenport, died Friday, May 6, 2011, in Davenport. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2011, at 2:30 p.m. at The Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park with military honors. Memorials may be made to the family or a favorite military charity. Rodger was born July 7, 1962, in Davenport, the son of Rodger E. and Nancy (Gadient) Kelley, Sr. He was united in marriage to Lori Hoefle on May 17, 1988, in Davenport. He served in the Marine Corps from 1980 until 1984.

He was a union pipefitter working for Plumbers & Pipefitters Local #25 in Rock Island. He was a member of the Davenport Eagles. Rodger loved animals, especially his beloved dog, Bart. He enjoyed life and the many activities and opportunities it presented him and he presented it! He was always quick with a smile, story, joke or song. He was also an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. Rodger was a proud father who never missed any his boys? baseball games.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Lori, Davenport; sons, Josh Schaab, Rock Island, Ill., Sgt. Jon Kelley, U.S. Army and Amn. Joe (Jaime) Kelley, U.S. Air Force, both of Davenport; mother, Nancy Kelley-Roehlk and her husband, Dennis; brothers, Dennis (Sally) and Dan (Margie), all of Davenport; nephews and nieces, Travis, Kristy and Kevin Kelley; paternal grandmother, Anna Peterson, Blue Grass, Iowa; mother-in-law, Linda (Jim) Wells, Milan, Ill.; father-in-law, Fred (Carol) Hoefle, Akins, S.C.; numerous grandnieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; along with two life-long friends, (brothers) Kenny McGinnis and Tom Tompkins.

His father, grandparents, Clarence and Marguerite Gadient and John Kelley, and brother-in-law, Fred Hoefle, Jr., preceded him in death.
